The Glasshoughton Wheel of Light in West Yorkshire, England, is iconic to the local community as it stands as a memorial to the Glasshoughton Colliery and Coke Works. From which the community was founded, the Glasshoughton Colliery and Coke Works has a long-standing history in the mining industry, with the wheel commemorating the thousands of workers, many of whom lost their lives from accidents and illness.

Placed at the headstock above the mine, the wheel was used to “raise and lower a rope attached to a cage which was used to transport men and materials into the mine,” representatives at A&I Coatings

The team chose a Vitreset V115 Surface Tolerant Epoxy Primer and V195 two-pack topcoat for the recoat supplied by Unova. The representatives further explain, “Use of fluoropolymer paint will ensure this structure looks great and remains free of corrosion for many years to come.”
