A runner-up in the Tnemec's Tank of the Year competition is a new water tank from the City of Lincoln, Illinois. The tank represents a significant milestone for the Illinois American Water company's water system improvement project. The one-million-gallon elevated water tank honors the local history of Illinois native Abraham Lincoln.

The tank will be featured in the Tank of the Year 2022 calendar with the eleven other award-winning tank designs, beating out over 300 entries from around the country. As with many tanks, the Lincoln, Illinois tank provides the town with a sense of pride and historical significance. The tank features a realistic depiction of Abraham Lincoln, looking down on the city below. Before his presidency, the city was named after Lincoln, when he was a Springfield attorney, playing an integral role in the city's inception.

“The black and white logo on Illinois-American's water tank was recreated in painstaking detail on the tall tower using Tnemec's UV-resistant topcoat, HydroFlon, which will help keep Abe's face, the town logo, and the water utility company's logo shining bright above everyone in town,” the coating's experts at Tnemec Company describe.

Nate Pennisi, superintendent of operations, further describes in the local Lincoln Courier, “We are thrilled to have one of our water tanks featured in the calendar. It's an honor not only for Illinois American Water but the entire community. The collaboration between the City of Lincoln and our team for the design of the artwork on the tank was a key component to how it turned out.”
