Among the 12 finalists of the coveted Tank of the Year Award in 2019 was the Farmers Branch bright green water tank. The tank, completed by the city of Farmers Branch in April 2019, was the collaborative effort of Field Applicator, J.F. Stelzer and Engineering Firm Birkhoff, Hendricks & Carter, LLP.

In addition to the tank’s distinctive green tone and leaf motif, the tank stands 240 feet tall. Its extraordinary height makes it the tallest water tower in the State of Texas. The small town, just outside of Dallas, is known for its lush green landscapes. Also known as the “City in the Park,” Farmers Branch has 28 parks in just 12 square miles, local businesses boast. An ode seen in the town’s logo and even design.

To ensure the tank’s durability, Tnemec Company explains, “For longevity, all components of the tank’s steel were painted using innovative coating systems from Tnemec, including the finish, HydroFlon.”

The finish ensures long-lasting gloss and color retention. This next-generation, high-performance fluoropolymer, contains Lumiflon FEVE technology, which is a main contributor to the coating system’s hyper-durability. Lumiflon FEVE resin provides protection to surfaces, helping to prevent coating degradation at the hands of UV radiation, salt, and water. FEVE-based also offer superior color and gloss retention and anti-corrosion properties that maintain the coating’s structural integrity.
