Upcoming Webinar: Selecting Exterior Topcoats Based on Aesthetic Performance

AGC Chemicals Americas is proud to sponsor a free webinar for Durability and Design.

This program is eligible for 1 AIA Learning Unit.

Participants will learn about the aesthetic performance of the most common types of topcoats, examine the effects of UV exposure on color & gloss retention, and learn how to select & specify topcoats based on expected levels of gloss & color retention performance.

Baked-On Coating Degradation Results In Lumiflon Roof Restoration

Lumiflon, Coatings, FEVE fluoropolymers, Coraflon ADS, PPG
Metal roofs are common amongst commercial buildings, for their durability and perceived long life cycles. While these roofs may never need replacement, overtime degradation occurs of the the baked-on PVDF coatings and requires refurbishing, exposing the bare metal underneath, resulting in red rust corrosion that can permanently damage the substrate. For the roof restoration of this Baltimore, Maryland based office building; All-Tech Coatings was contacted for their expertise in recoating. To achieve a factory-like finish that can provide years of service with low wear, All-Tech Coatings applied a coating system that uses PPG’s Coraflon ADS that include Lumiflon FEVE fluoropolymer resins.

Designed by architecture firm, Coarchitecture, the Desjardins building in De Bourgogne, Quebec is a multi-use, four-story building that sits atop a parking garage. The design marries form and function, with an emphasis on “large windows to allow for natural lighting to the central core.” The building’s facade utilizes aluminum panels that are coated with Akzo Nobel’s Interpon D3000 coatings; Lumiflon FEVE-based powder coatings with unparalleled durability and color retention characteristics.
