4300 Wilson Blvd in Arlington, Virginia, is the site of an impressively revamped interior. Inside a 270,000 square-foot Class A office building, the Ballston Point project creates hospitality design in a commercial space. Invoking hospitable design elements, the interior focuses on common, connective spaces, drawing in visitors and staff.

The main focal draw of the wooden design is that it undulates through the interior. Fabricated by Italian company Wood Skin, the geometric fluid form runs the length of the interior. The Wood Skin material is interior-grade, requiring the architects at Gensler an exterior-grade, matching product line.

The team specified Pure + Freeform 1.0mm aluminum in a custom woodgrain. The Pure + Freeform product allows for a seamless transition from the interior product to the exterior canopy. “This allowed for continuity in the lobby’s focal piece through the vestibule and exterior canopy without concerns for durability in the future,” the representatives at Pure + Freeform describe. Transforming the interior is 3-dimensional art; the wood grain products create an attractive design from the outside in.

The wood-like panels are enriched with Lumiflon FEVE resin technology. Coatings with Lumiflon FEVE resin technology offer benefits that many other coatings do not. The fluoropolymer provides unmatched weatherability, which helps prevent coating degradation. FEVE-based coatings also help reduce lifecycle costs, as their hyper-durability allows a coating to resist degradation in the face of UV radiation, salt, and water.
