Technical

Unlike PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) coatings, FEVE resins (fluoropolymer based) have a higher gloss and color range. It is the broader range of gloss that allows for FEVE coatings to produce a brighter color palette and retention than its PVDF opposition.

The Materials International Space Station Experiments (MISSE) are a series of tests conducted on the International Space Station (ISS) to determine what effects different materials will have when exposed to a low Earth orbit (LEO) environment. The 1,500 different samples of polymers, coatings, composites, plastics, metals, etc, were placed in testing containers known as Passive Experiment Containers (PECs), which allowed the materials to be transferred to and from the ISS. The tests were conducted externally on the ISS and ultimately determined what affects the atmospheric conditions would have on each component.

Since its creation in 1982, fluororesin paints based on LUMIFLON have been produced by manufacturers around the world and applied to thousands of architectural structures. As the first solvent-soluble fluoropolymer for coatings to be cured at room temperature, LUMIFLON based coatings have color vibrancy not obtainable with PVDF technology. Due to the finishes’ crystal clear quality, LUMIFLON produces a brighter, cleaner range of colors than its PVDF counterpart.
