Exhibit’s Valflon-Coated “Wings” Retell Space Craft’s Spectacular Story

After 20 years of service, NASA's Space Shuttle Atlantis was taken out of commission and transferred to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where it be turned into an exhibit. The newest attraction is housed in a facility that is designed to retell Atlantis' 30 year history. Architectural wings that are coated in Valspar's Valfon wrap around the building, depicting the flames that would ignite along the bottom of the craft as it re-entered the atmosphere.

The Wolf Creek Branch Library was constructed out of a need for a public space in Atlanta's Wolf Creek neighborhood. The state-of-the-art library opened its doors in 2014, debuting its iconic bright, volcanic façade which received its dynamic hue from the Valflon coating system applied to the library's exterior aluminum composite material cladding.

A striking component of the 155,463 square-foot building is the aluminum composite portion of the exterior design. The University uses a Lumiflon FEVE resin-based Valflon coating in Custom ALPOLIC SEP Prismatic Blue supplied by Valspar®.
