Buyaka is a colossal complex, constructed in Istanbul by Dilekci Architects (DDA). Featuring four multi-story facades, one shopping center and one sports arena, the complex attempts to provide a different approach to mixed-use development. One obvious difference is the shopping center’s very modern façade.

The building is wrapped is nearly 183,000 square feet of ALPOLIC/fr composite material. The finish, Prismatic Sapphire, offers an ingenious interplay with light allowing a wide spectrum of colors to be portrayed. Depending on focal point, and direct sunlight, the façade appears purple, blue, even green at times. The architects explain, “The play between dark dull surfaces and light shiny surfaces creates depth in the appearance of the building.”

As the architects further explain, “As the building is situated by the motorway junction, the perception of the building is cinematic. One mostly perceives the building by moving around it by car. This cinematic experience choreographed by the material.”

ALPOLIC Prismatic panels are enhanced with Lumiflon FEVE resin, which accounts for the material’s unparalleled luster. Fluoropolymer technology allows each color in the prismatic series to have an intense brightness of shade and high gloss quality that lasts for 30 years without fading. Unable to achieve the same surface effect with a PVDF system, LUMIFLON FEVE resin-based coating was the premiere choice for the series.
