High Performance Waterbased FEVE Coatings

LUMIFLON FEVE resins are used in a wide range of applications. This is in part due to the variety of FEVE resins available. Besides the standard solvent based resins, FEVE resins are offered as solid flakes as well as water-based emulsions and dispersions. Achieving the high level of weatherability of a solvent-based resin can be difficult when it comes to water-based systems. Many water-based resins require surfactants which typically increase the hydrophilic nature of the coating resulting in lower weathering performance. Continue reading Read More

FEVE Resins Among the Top Coatings in AAMA Exposure Tests

The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) is a recognized leader in the fenestration industry through product certifications and standards development. A series of AAMA tests have been conducted using organic coatings on aluminum extrusions and panels, resulting in 3 standards by which coatings can be attributed: AAMA2603, AAMA 2604 or AAMA 2605. FEVE resins have been proven to exceed AAMA 2605 standards, which are an excellent choice for coatings for projects that demand high performance materials. Continue reading Read More

Lumiflon FEVE resins at the 2015 Waterborne Symposium in New Orleans

Fluorinated resins are known for high performance, particularly in long term, exterior durability. Fluoroethylene vinyl ether or FEVE resins, a family of fluorinated resins, have a unique alternating copolymer structure allowing them to be dissolved in solvent as well as emulsified in water for formulating liquid coatings. As environmental initiatives are becoming less compulsory and industry is taking proactive measures to protect the environment, waterborne and high solids paint is ever increasing in demand.
