School Structure Boasts Iridescent Color-Changing Facade With Lumiflon Fluoropolymer Topcoat

Paderborn, a Western German city, was given its name from the Pader river that runs through it. The historic city has two large Secondary Schools, Pelizaeus and Reismann. In a development of the school’s campus, an Alucobond-clad canteen was created, designed by Matern Wäschle Architekten. The Kenwood Interdisciplinary Research Complex, KIRC, is an over 140,000 square-foot building on the UWM campus designed by Flad Architects. Usually reserved for bold European designs, the Exo Apartments in Reston, Virginia boast a facade clad entirely of aluminum composite. The iridescent exterior is enveloped in ALUCOBOND Spectra Ocean, a color-shifting finish which features a LUMIFLON FEVE resin topcoat. Interestingly, the façade has more than one adaptive cladding material, the building also utilizes smart glass technology that changes severity of window tint to optimize natural daylight penetration.
